Hi guys, working off of the other exhaust thread which has been really useful, I've been researching the materials I'll need for making my manifolds. I'm cutting the stock manifolds to reroute them and I'm not too sure which filler I'm after. The new material will probably be 304, unless someone has a reason not to use it.
The problems lie with not knowing what the manifold is made of, I'm fairly sure it's some flavour of stainless mostly because it sat outside for a while in my tent along with some mild, the mild is orange and the manifold isn't. My limited knowledge obviously leads me to 309, would this be the best option for a manifold? Or what about 347? It appears to be better for high temp applications and maintaining its corrosion resistance but is it suitable for dissimilar applications?
Also, would there be any way for me to confirm what the manifold is made of? And is there any reason I can't find 1mm 309 anywhere without throwing almost a ton at rapid? Other alloys seem reasonable, even 309 in different sizes (also on rapid the difference between 2.5kg and 5kg is like £3 for 1.6mm iirc).
