exhaust flexi - trying find a mild steel version

hello, i need to weld a couple of flexes into my exhaust as the current ones are blowing, all i can find are stainless steel versions and my exhaust is std mild steel, my welder is set up for mild steel as per the norm.

anyone know of a mild steel flex supplier, i need 2 of them 50mm x 120mm (could buy 150mm though assuming its cut tube to cut off to reduce slightly)

or - and this is most likely a silly question, can i weld these stainless ones in with my welder set for mild steel?

just weld it same as you would steel...

stainless steel will weld fine for this application. The md is going to rust anyway so may as well use mild wire instead of trying to fund a mild steel part or using stainless wire etc

lives and learns as they say, when it comes to fabricating my exhaust for my mk2 golf ill splash out on the different gas and wire most likely

if your going to be doing it all in stainless then its a good idea to get the right stuff

Strength, looks nice. Less protrusions on inside and just the way any fabricator would do it.

well its welding 2x flexes to the exhaust on an old audi, so i couldn't care less how it looks, mig will be plenty strong enough and i dont have a tig welder

Jason, you have a portamig yes? you get the settings right on some scrap when you do your golf exhaust and you shouldn't have any problems. as it happens my neighbour wants me to do an exhaust for his mk2 gti g60 conversion, but he cant quite afford to get the materials and consumables in yet.
