Have a look for an exup valve from a Yamaha bike exhaust. A lot of them get removed when aftermarket systems are fitted.

Maybe its the time to look into developing your own. If quantity's are viable then they could be cost effective to produce. I would guess the others on the market are a premium like everything these days.
What is it? A tube with a disk mounted on 2 pivots and something to activate it. when you look at it like that it puts it into a perspective.
Have a think about it I'm always up for developing products.

The exup valve wouldn't flow enough and in any case they don't seal - all they do is increase the back-pressure in the exhaust at lower revs. The concept is sound enough though.
I'd look into getting some investment-cast housings made from your own mould and fabricate the necessary valve parts. wouldn't bee too difficult. You could even make the housings from heavy-walled tube.

My thinking was to use the exup valve mechanism. He could make a butterfly from a metal disk to block whatever size pipe he is using. I assumed his plan is to block one pipe and leave another open to free the flow.

Yes, basically thats it. but it will have to seal and not let any exhuast gasses through....remember this will have to pass an MOT, so no leaks!
I suppose the alternative is mount a blanking plate over it for MOT time?
I think the biggest issue of making it would be getting a good seal?

Customers would probably go with that option if necessary, a friend of mine services a few sports cars and refits the cats to pass the MOT then fits a straight through pipe back in for the rest of the year!
