EWM vs. Miller

I took a new Tetrix 351 AC/DC to a company in Poole today to demo up against a Miller Dynasty 350 inverter.
The Miller looks good I have to say and it is a bit cheaper but we have all the bases covered with the EWM, to be fair arc quality isn't apreciably different between many top end sets, it's build quality, dealer support and price mainly that swings it.
Fingers crossed it goes our way.

I have no experience of Miller sets, they will have to go a long way to out do the build quality and service provided by EWM.

Ive never used a 351 but would blindly choose it over the miller. EWM for reliability,support,toughness,cost of repair parts,i could go on

So would I, I have already because I choose to be an EWM dealer, we'll see if the guys in the welding shop are as enlightened as us clever chaps eh?

Could you imagine if this was an American forum, the mods would have to close the thread with all the "MILLER, $&#%&&+%/?!# everything else" comments you get over there. Having no experience with either, if I had the money, I'd get the EWM...

How are the two programmed and controlled? AFAIK Miller use lots of back menus whereas EWM have lots of dials on the front for all that. That appeals to me.

Lincoln's red looks nice too.

Cheers Al, I hope so, it went well on the demo and the Polish weld coordinator likes EWM so we have have half a chance.

The menu is pretty straightforward, if a little confusing initially as its all there on the panel, nothing is hidden.
They use a very similar panel layout on everything so once you are up to speed on one you know them all which is vary handy.
You use a cycle button to highlight various areas of the weld cycle and make adjustments with the amperags dial on a TIG it the wire feed knob on a MIG.
Or you can set it to synergic mode and use metal thickness as your parameter for setup.
It takes me about 5 minutes to show someone how to use one, I take longer of course so features can be explained but they are actually very user friendly and intuitive once you've been shown the basics.

Hi Maker,

EWM has option of 4 different control panels.
SMART:- basic functions on panel, additional parameters in background menu
COMFORT:- most common, all parameters using 1 soft key and 1 knob. 8 jobs to store/ save
CLASSIC:- Old fashioned way with knobs for all main parameters
SYNERGIC:- select material type, thickness and joint type, them machine chooses optimised parameters, job storage 256!

All options are same price, as machine is the same, only control panel board different.
