Yes it can be really frustrating- certainly around here the drivers all appear to be casuals often delivering using their own cars.
As I am sure I’ve said on here before- we’ve sent many hundreds of packages with them and the vast majority of them arrive without issue. They aren’t easy to deal with when you do have problems though.

We have been lucky our Evri men ! have been excellent, rarely late delivering at 2000hrs putting things in shed and leaving note.
Always give them a good 5* report and quick word of thanks when I see them

Our Evri bloke, Sergii, is brilliant, never had any bother at all. Our posty lady is really good too. She runs the local FB pages so recognises all the photos people post of random places their parcels have been left by other companies.
She loves all the dogs on her round, often see her sitting on the patio with ours
Can't say I've ever had any bother with DPD. We live out of the way too, our house is not easy to find, but all the junk ordered always seems to arrive on time!

We are fortunate here too. The locals know I am disabled and wait for me to get to the door.
If we are out, they always drop the package in the box by the door.

After complaining on the various platforms, I note they have edited their story:

Gone are all the "rescheduling" times and now it' "we were unable" etc.

It's supposed to turn up right about now.

It will be interesting to see how Amazon prime do, Mrs. Robo ordered something for me at about 14:30 and gets a message back it should be here before 22:00 tonight, less than 8 hours turn around on a Sunday!

I tried asking the chap what happened yesterday but I couldn't understand a word he said. I did get the impression it wasn't him so I am left wondering if this "gig economy" means delivery agents are being "sublet" and there's a pool of miscellaneous unknowns running around delivering packages.

Apparently this is common in the world of Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eat etc. The "named" driver can sub out the work to one of his mates meaning you never know who is being given your name, your address and turning up at your door.

My parcel has been delivered. I have a photo of it sitting on my door step. That would be more convenient if I wasn't 450 miles away. Fortunately the neighbours have a key so I've asked them to pop it inside.

I imagine by plane, in fact the government have suggested we build an airport over there to make it easier to pop to and fro.
