evolution rage 3 blades

the time has come for me t change my blade, thing just makes a lot of noise and sparks now. i made a half arsed attempt at grinding down the guide teeth so the carbide teeth would be exposed again but it just didnt really work

so bought a cheap 230mm steel blade from fleebay, didnt realise the saw was 255mm
also goes on the saw back to front

but it dosnt cut all the way through (being 20mm too small)

edge on the right was butted up against the back of the saw.
so looks like ill have to space everything out about 30mm to get a clean cut and probably use the slide which it says not to do for some reason when cutting steel.

BUT can anyone anywere find a 250mm (10') steel blade in the uk!? the only ones i found are in america.
i quite like this saw but this is fast putting me off it, its like they are trying to force you into buying the multi purpose one for the mitre saw.

getting a nice big donky saw chugging away in the corner is looking appealing....

you can get those blades proffesionally sharpened mate, about 8 quid round here if i remember right

edit - here is a place in england that does sharpening MK, don't know where they are though

on the back of the packet the 230mm blade was in there was a chart of all the blades and sizes that evolution supposedly do. it said there is a 250mm steel blade available

just cant find anyone in the uk so far

that blade sharpening place looks like its in glasgow by the number but think my blade is now dead dont think they would be able to sharpen it anyway, its a rather odd design. keep it in mind though if i ever get a 250mm steel blade and it needs sharpened though!

you may have put that blade past sharpening but i know those type can definatley be sharpened, have one to drop up to the sharpeners next time im passing, will get a definate price

I have got the blade for my dewalt chopsaw sharpened a few times £ 8
and sharpened and two tips replaced £12

The blades are about £54 something plus postage if I remember, I`v done the same as you bought the smaller steel one and pack under and behind to use.

I've had a look at the blade on my Rage 3 the blade looks as if it works the same as a chain saw chain, with cutting teeth and rakers to control the depth of cut, no reason why it can't be sharpened, providing it hasn't been driven too hard. Just don't grind the guide teeth back.

Why do I always miss these sort of deals. I get an email every week of their specials but have never seen them. I assumed all the stores carried the same offers, perhaps not

you can get the blades sharpened and teeth replaced at The Saw Centre, Egglington street Glasgow. I used to work for them and the guy that does the sharpening has been doing it for 30 odd years and knows what he is doing. They also sell just about every type of blad you can think of and can get specials manufactured as well

that saw centre was posted up before, forgot about it though. seeing as evolution havnt bothered there **** getting back to me ill drop them a line to see if they can get hold of a proper blade for me
