Small update on this .
I remembered I had a Dart make TCT blade I'd bought on eBay for about £20, to fit my cheapo chop saw. Fitted it this a.m. to try and it cut 6mm flat bar no problem. Not too noisy and gave a clean cut but it threw chips everywhere , I'll use it outside in future if I can.
Only problem is it's 185mm diameter which is smaller than the original blade which came with the saw [210mm], but I couldn't find one with a 30mm bore which the saw takes.
I'll use it meantime [in full Aberdonian mode ] as it'll be better/easier/more accurate than using a disc in the angle grinder and it'll do what I need, but maybe still keep an eye out for an Evo one when/if the price is right.
