Evolution chop saws.........

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Evo Rage and Evo Fury chop saws - they seem to be specc'd the same in terms of motor power and blade size? Thinking about getting one and selling my current 'wood only' saw........

Alternative would be to keep an eye out for a 'proper' metal dedicated one - I'd like a metal bandsaw but space [or lack thereof ] is an issue. Anyone got a diamond blade one going cheap????

i found the evolution saws not to be all that, blades are hellish expensive and just don't last long enough.

used other tct saws with much bigger blades and they were much much better tho they are all loud

Fury stuff was for people like wickes and the like to sell to a diy / guy in a shed with a one off job. The machine is probably the same but IIRC the blades don't last as long compared to the rage.

I have a "Rage" I use it for cutting fire wood (old floor joists ect)
I never cut nails on purpose but it eats them lol

If you want a metal only saw then I'd suggest the Evolution Raptor. I have one and it's a great bit of kit. A bit dearer than the rage or fury but it's a bigger saw. It also comes with a clamp so you can turn box section in its side so the cut starts on a corner rather than the flat thus saving the blade

I've a Rage and it does everything I want. Cuts though scaffolding tube like butter. Tried to cut some 50mm bar and it knackered the blade. As people say they are expensive to replace so now am careful to avoid abusing.

The erbauer blades fit as mrfuzzy said, a lot cheaper than genuine. I've also managed to pick up a couple of genuine blades online cheap, can't remember the supplier name though.

I have the rage sliding mitre saw and cut absolutely everything with it. Even 50mm round bar. Take it steady and it eats anything in its path. Cuts very accurately as well. Way better easy to use than the big abrasive cut off saw that I have for clean cuts.

I have ten blades for it now that I have acquired over time and when they break or need sharpening I send them off to a place in Bedford in batches of 5 who sharpen them and repair any missing teeth and send them back for less than a fiver a blade. I get hundreds of clean cuts out of them no problem.

I've had mine for two years and it's on the same blade. As long as you don't abuse/force it, they last pretty well IMO

The blades are only £5 more on ebay than erbauer ones

tryed everything i chould think off to get more life out the blade, but when worked it all out the cost of cutting was cheeper with an abrasive saw.

1 oops and upset a tooth on the blade they seem to go down hill very rapidly from there. went to town clamping the work to try nd stop vibration bamaging the blades in the end just gave up and bought a bandsaw

I paid £10:99 for an erbauer one a few weeks ago. I'll try and find out where I got the genuine ones from, they were pretty good value.

Thanks lads - the Raptor model sounds like it merits investigation. Just checked and outside my budget, for all the occasion use it'll get.

Agree. I didn't get a sliding one, regret it, and will now get one.

Thanks, had a look and it seems [like quite a few Sellers] they refuse to despatch to the Scottish Highlands. Might give them a call without being too shoutey to see if they'll bend their rules...

I have the sliding one. If you bu, spend a bit of time setting it ip square, it didnt come out of the box that way.

You could get it delivered to me and then come down and pick it up from my workshop
