evolution 14" saw, wow!!

Got one of these today - quicker and easier than a bandsaw, 100 x better than a 14" abrasive chop saw! hardly any sparks or grind dust etc... cut 2 tonne 50 x 50 x 3 shs and and 30 * flat with ease today, Possibly the best tool improvement ive seen for a long, and its chinese made!!

The evolution saws are ok, i have the 9inch 230 extreme rips 12mm plate no problem. Used the 14" one before cutting angle iron and pipe, nice and quick and easy

I like the idea of them but its the blade that concerns me. At £50 a throw you could buy 20 14" normal blades for that.

Do you think the blade will last as long?

I Bought one recently too, certainly a step up from abrasive discs

according to BOC sales guy, they are outselling everything with no problems so far, as he explains BOC tend to only sell good stuff which i think is fair comment, I have a pipefitter mate who swears 1 blade lasts as long as 100 14" abrasive disks! The boc guy reckons its 1:80, which after using mine all day every day so far for this week with no signs off the blade dulling rings ever so true. The amazing thing is the cut edge nu burr and clean. At 150 + vat they are a steal - my local B and q (J9, M6) has the smaller one (230 dia i think)on a sale special at 100.00!

This may be a dumb question but could you fit the blade to any other make of chop saw (e.g. Ryobi)?

yes and no. if it fits another ie the bore size etc is correct, then yes you can fit it. but the metal cutting tunsten carbide saw run slower than a wood cutting one. so if you tried to cut metal with them in a wood saw, thee blade won't last long

We have one that gets kicked about when someone can be bothered to use it.

They are okay, can be a bit noisey though.
Much nicer than an abrasive partoff saw.
Lacks the accuracy and speed of a bandsaw though.

Good for site work, like doing keyclamp rails etc, no need for a hot works ticket at most places.

Had a rep round the other day with one claming it was better than my band saw and once I had tried it I would never use my band saw again(sales reps ) he then noticed that we had loaded 6 lengths of 50x50x5 shs in the saw and quickly changed tack ..to be honest it this saw would be more use to you on site

They look a very capable saw and invaluable on site work or small fab shop work

But for fast accurate production work I will be sticking with the band saw
