Another brand to consider is orient, its not well known but part of seiko/epsom group.Gets very good reviews online and one of the few companies to make their own movement. Not officially imported to the uk but can be got from the states or singapore at good prices.I bought one of their divers watches as a cheaper alternative to an omega, £130 compared to £3500.I like it so much I bought another for best and a cheaper quartz for work, may end up buying one or two more.

Very hard to buy a watch for anyone else , the choice is so personal ,, may as well buy a pair of shoes and a bag too , and get all three wrong .
why not go shopping together and get her something she actually likes / wants , and will wear . Nothing sadder than a watch sitting in a drawer unworn.

I’ve not worn a watch since I got a decent phone, total redundancy, I always found them a problem anyway delving into mechanics and electrics so they were usually in my pocket anyway.

The only decent watch I’ve ever owned was (and still is!) an Omega bought for me by my older brother for my 21st birthday, and that was over 50 years ago. it seems happy sitting in the wardrobe with the very occasional session of being wound up.

I destroy them some how never worn one to work either.
Afrer seeing a fitter weld the bracelet to the battery and earth not a. pleasant sight/smell
Same with rings etc.

Surely using a phone as a timepiece is harder than having a watch. First you've got to find the phone(probably on the other side of the room), then press a button(make sure hands are cleanish) to see time, alternative is to look at wrist.

tell me that when ive riped out the pins on the watch that many times

or the pins have ripped the pin part off the watch so another strap cant be used

same witht he metal straps im alergic to metal so its a no go for me but ive worn them and that strap has cut into my wrist many a time

watches and nails dont mix and neither do edges on things either

same for rings including engagement rings mine had to come off or lose a finger its really not worth having a ring on in some cases same with watches

Rings, watches etc. are a danger in a lot of trades.
