As I've mentioned Evernote twice recently and two people have expressed interest I thought it might be worth shining a separate light on it.
As Sparkey said in another thread
Well I came across Evernote a while back, a nifty little program that allows you to save web pages, clippings from web pages (in their original format) photo's from the web and your own camera/computer, your own typed notes (and even hand written notes if you have an ipad), screen-shots and pdf's (and probably more stuff that I've yet to discover). You can have all your saved notes on all your computers and your phone and access it from the web from anywhere. Brilliant
. Ever got a new computer and been frustrated that all your favourite sites are no longer book marked? Ok, I'm sure it's possible to transfer all that info but I know I used to bookmark all sorts of stuff then forget where I'd put the bookmark or forget which computer I'd bookmarked something on. The nice thing about E.N. is it is on your desktop and you can browse through the pages as images, you don't have to be connected to the web and you can quickly see which page you want to read (or delete!).
I've found it really useful and very easy to use, you can make new folders and store all the information you need for a project in one place and each page copied from the web has a link back to the original site (or you can add your own link if it's a clipping). The other great thing is you can edit the pages to get rid of surplus adverts and information not needed. Useful if you want to email or print something without a load of useless text.
Apart from the various folders I have for different projects/areas of interest I also have a web receipts folder which means I can save stuff on my laptop and later print it from my desktop as it syncs all notes automatically.
The basic program is free or you can upgrade to the premium service which gives you more storage space (and probably other perks..I'm still managing to just stay within the free monthly usage of 40mb
)
I could go on but it's probably easier to look at the website.
That's all folks, just wanted to share this very useful tool
