ever see a paper exh gasket?

i was expecting a metal one , appears to be paper /card just like an inlet

is this a modern thing that works or cheapo c***

must be the newer version of asbestos fiber . still looks like the ends just torn off though .

the torn end is correct , they come in 2 halves incase you only want to do half the job lol

What's it for?

Some of those gasket types can have a metal mesh core in them. Depending on the application I may prefer an all metal gasket.

I wouldnt use that on exhaust manifolds, inlet yes but if it’s non turbo and the head temperatures aren’t exceed its working temperature then crack on?
I’d sooner see something graphite based for the temperature and cyclic heating.
