They won't be the first to do it, I suspect. Local Ford dealer has said it is struggling to sell electric cars. Not that I have a Ford any longer, as of several weeks ago... the least reliable car I've ever had.

I"m still staggered that politicians have sacrificed our car industry and pretty much handed it over to the Chinese.

The reason China are so keen on electric vehicles is they have little to no domestic oil resources, but have plentiful coal to burn to generate electricity.

Indeed... although as I hadn't thrown my personal tuppenceworth in before, I've done so now

A plug in hybrid that does say 150 miles, we would all be driving mostly electric most of the time. But engine development will continue as there will always be a demand for efficient petrol engines in places with little to no infrastructure. The UK is a drop in the ocean for emissions as well as car buyers.
