Euro torch

Hi ,i am new to mig welding and to this forum.I find it a superb site for any type of information and there is always some body out there willing to share information. I am still on the look out for a mig welder but would like to know what is the differance with a euro torch and other torches.

'Euro coupler' is what they have. Basically, a quick release torch, no connections to undo as such, just remove wire and unscrew the torch.
They are probably most common in industry where time saving is important.
It facilitates quick changes of different torch sizes and styles.

Mine has a eurotorch, and it's only been off the welder once (that was when I replaced it with a shorter eurotorch that suited me better).

Pros will probably change the things quite often so they can still weld while they service the old one. The main advantage for DIYers is cost of replacement. I once gave Machinemart £80 for a replacement fixed torch, where a eurotorch would have been £40. That's because the eurotorch is standardised, and because Machine mart can charge what they like because fixed torches aren't standardised.

Though all I needed was a new liner and that would have been £10 had I known at the time. Much the same price as a eurotorch liner.

Welders with eurotorches do tend to be better welders than those with fixed torches. It costs a few pence more to add the adapter so it's an indication that the manufacturer has been extravagant and that they might have treated you in other areas too.

For most uses the standard torch set up, say on a 'clarke 160t' fer example is fine. As long as you can get the machine to within a couple of feet to the job/bench.

How ever if you are going to need to reach past the car length, to get to the job...well best to look for a euro torch set, you can easily change for a longer/shorter set up etc

What do you need to do?

me i need still to pimp my 160tm with a 4mtr euro torch conversion....
not easy puting in a disco floor with the 160t alongside you in the car cause the torch lead is to fek**** short...
