Earlier I had replaced the wire feed motor on the Pocket Turbo with a more robust unit, detailed in July 7 post, but had retained the original torch. I've now fitted the euro socket, a 24v gas valve, and a Mb15 euro torch from Static Arc. These modifications together with a beefier earth lead and clamp have transformed the unit. It is now a delight to use - so much easier to get a reasonable weld. Well worth doing if you have this welder.
Here are photos, the gas solenoid is fed from the pcb where I've used a piggyback connector and the negative from the rectifier. The 2 switching wires on the euro socket are to the original switch wire and the main weld feed. Had a 51mm hole saw which reluctantly cut the hole for the socket. ( Used a wooden plug for the centre drill of the hole saw.)
I now have the old original wire feed unit and mig torch spare if anyone needs them available for a few beer tokens - though I would advise its so much better to upgrade them.
