As already mentioned, a switch will do what you need and it is just a matter of plugging it in.
I don't know what your current WiFi setup is but a wired connection is likely to be a lot better. Be aware though that the sum of all the traffic through the switch will be limited to 1 Gbps in each direction. Even so, it would take some serious video streaming to the TV and a lot of WiFi traffic to interfere with a game on the PS4. Obviously also depends on the speed of your Internet connection.
If some devices are close to the router, some load could be unloaded to it.
It is unlikely, but if you need additional bandwidth, you can run a second Ethernet cable from the router to the PS4 or to a second switch.

Not really. You'd need some internet connection to worry about a Gbps switch![]()
Always Knipex.Thanks guys!
Anyone know of a decent RJ45 tool and plugs I can buy?
video streaming etc. won't touch a 1gig connection
just checked my biggest downloaded film is a bit over 14gig, playback of it is 1509kbps - so 1.5mb per second
a 1gig lan connection is ~100mb per sec (ok you never really get that, but it's close)
you'll only really hit a bottle neck there if you're copying files over from one machine to another
quick check of other downloads and bit rates are all over the place... some more like 10meg/sec.... still nothing for a 1 gig connection tho
Which is why I said I was more concerned with local transfers.
So far as gamers are concerned, it is more to do with latency anyway and how good the switch is.
Be aware though that the sum of all the traffic through the switch will be limited to 1 Gbps in each direction.
