I had the opportunity to have the esab warrior 400i plant and the new esab robust wire feed
After a shaky start with the first wire feed setting on fire after 8 inch and letting all the magic smoke out the esab had a new feeder with us asap and a i thank Andy for that
On first inspection it looks a nice bit of kit looks the part,
The plant is a fairly simple thing small and compact has on off switch , a switch for electrode selection on MMA one for indixtanin and arc force and one to select the mode from , mig, lift Tig , stick, air arc, and cc/CV and a digital display meter
It is what it is but the fan is over loud and can be heard over the background noise of a busy fabweld shop.
The new robust feed, it looks well made and compact ish for a feeder, simple front one panel with twin display and 2 knobs
1 knob on the left forfor volt adjustment with the digital display above and one on the right for wire feed rate and which switched to amp read out when welding,I was informed by the rep this can be turn 90 degrees for when the feeder is run on its side.
The on off switch is on the rear it has 3 settings on off and heater which when not in use of the plant is left turned on it will keep the wire enclosed at a temperature to maintain the wore,
Both sides open completely with a clip.in each bottom corner the right hand side has the connections for the feeder , multi plug, gas quick connect, dinse and connections .for a water cooled torch, the left side has a small inspection window when opened it has a light and usb socket for firmware upgrades and charging your phone it has a built in flow meter , knob for crater fill function, solid or core wire, latch function and one for a slow wire start till arc is started,
4 roller feed in fully ally encased and a nice set up the rollers are tool free change by turning the knob, 5 degrees, rollers slide on and off this came with red 0.9-1mm on one side a yellow 1.2mm on the other ,
The while feeder is esensialess a ally case surrounded run heaps of rubber with built in lifting ponts front and back both case sides have rubber seals on the doors I was told by the rep it was ip44 rated
We fired it up simple set up and layed down a few runs it welds very nice a nice tight stable arc as expected not much to say,
Over all its 's cross between a standard feeder and a suitcase ( without the abilty to run of just the arc) im not sure where this will fit in tbh I was informed it will be around 4.5k/5k Inc vat for the set up it puts it into the range of alot of other machines offering alot more
