Had 4 quotes now for the 235 all offering hefty discount (30%+) off retail. Also when you look at the EMP215, average UK price seems to be about £1.4k Inc VAT but retail is £2247 + VAT so it seems the ESABs seem do get heavily discounted compared to their peers in the UK. Could it be the RRP is not realistic against the competition in the UK and dealers knock them down as a matter of course? something not right with ESABs UK RRP structure if thats the case.
Prolonging the off topic I know, ill stop now.
I can’t even seem to find the everlast version. Got a link by chance?Nope but Rtech are, maybe they have plans to import that version
Often manufacturers don’t want to deal direct as it can sully relationships with their distributor base. They might make it available to joe public but if they go for the direct deal they’re certainly going to pay RRP or list price.since when did a manufacturer's rrp have anything to do with how much you can buy something for? With many things you can buy something for considerably less than rrp. What I don't get is how 3rd party companies can sell for less than buying direct from the manufacturer? We bought a Sony telly at currys for 20% less than the same one at the Sony shop!

I can not comment on this Everlast either, only the observation is that synergic lines are not the be all/end all solution.
My Rowac VBE10/Lorch Saprom 905 has synergic programs (I can set the wire dia/type and the shielding gas, not the materials thickness) as well, they only provide a ballpark setup , and you need to change stuff a bit depending on your welding position and the material you are welding .Which would be very logical, as you can do lots of different welding with the same gas and wire, and the manufacturer has no way of knowing what you are going to weld with a certain wire (within reason, I can not see someone welding a heavy structural part with 0.6 solid wire, or welding up body panels with 1.6 flux core)
On my machine the settings/lines are very accurate for under hand vertical welding, going vertical, or welding illogical things (for example, I am setup for welding a small construction like a pallet stacking bay with 0.8 mm wire, and need to stick some thin stuff together like a lounge chair frame for a passer by)the machine needs a correction
I have always found that buying direct from the manufacturers is often more expensive you can buy Panasonic product direct but they are dearer than mainstream suppliersOften manufacturers don’t want to deal direct as it can sully relationships with their distributor base.
