i have got an esab eye tec 2 and all i can say is when it comes to welding its the best £200 i have ever spent.
i usually tig with it on around 8-9ish but i have done a couple of very fine low amp jobs and gone down to 6-7. its paid for its self already as the first job i used it for was a roof chop on an american 1950's hot rod truck. the main roof was easy but the esab eyetec 2 come into its own when i had to cut down and reweld all the window beads that were 0.5mm thick
Interesting to hear you guys comments on the EyeTech II. I'm a sales rep for ESAB over here in Canada..and they didn't fly at all here. No interest from distribution at all. Yet we still sell on a regular basis the older style EyeTech I.
I would agree that the optrel lens with the dual LCD's are the best lens on the market today..the plastic surrounding it is just "bling" for the most part.
I use the new Lincoln mask, 9-13 with sensitivity adjustment.
Its been excellent so far, my old Lincoln didn't have a sensitivity adjustment, I've got it in full and its not overly sensitive but stays latched even in the tight areas.
My works have just supplied me with an Esab Origo-Tech lid with the air-fed set up.
TBH, it's quite uncomfortable and the optics seem pretty cheap too. The bottom left corner of the reactolite screen seems a few shades lighter than the rest. The air-fed unit seems okay though, but on the whole... it ain't a Speedglas.
I miss my Flexiview Adflo .
Fazed, i have had the exact same problem with 2 of them now, straight from the box, brand new. And the cheapy flapy thing on the back of the headband has broken too.
Cheap junk imo.
I miss my Eyetech1.
