Carlos,
Had mine about 12 months with no issues so far. Moved it about a fair bit in vans, up ladders etc with no issues. Can't comment on the logevity but I gave it this sort of reasoning when faced with the same choice:
Coils: + nothing really to go wrong, proven reliability, easy to fix
- heavy, lower power factor so may need higher rated supply, not sure if suitable to run off an extention
Inverters: + light, can be run off an extention, high power factor (~ unity) so may be better of a lower rated supply
- unproven longevity as welders (high power inverters for ships can be, and usually are more reliable than other power converter technologies. Also once over the first failure part of the bathtub curve most electronics are reasonably reliable), harder to fix (more complex)
Just my thoughts and I am sure others will have a different view. My real selling point was portability and running off a lower rated supply with an extention. So with a bit of optimism I made the choice I made. Only time will tell on reliability but seems good so far. Performance as I have said absolutely first rate. Makes me look like I know what I am doing
