Looked at this model mig welder at a factory I'm at working. It looks a solid piece of kit but £1300 price tag. Any opinions what comes close but less money.
They're really not very good machines, going by the amount of failures I've read about, in addition to this they look and feel cheaply made. This is the origo mag 141/151/171/201/251 single phase machines, and they are the cheapest range that Esab sell. Step up to the next range, the black fronted 3phase origo mig machines are a much better machine, but again, too expensive really.
If they were an equivalent price to Clarke/Sealey/SIP etc then yes because Esab brand = resale value, but they aren't... so there are far better machines in this price bracket... far, far superior.
A Kemppi mingarcmig 200 which is tiny and portable, for example, has a far better duty cycle, more of a proper industry machine in spite of how small it is, and it's a very well regarded machine.
I paid £400 for that 6 years ago , a bankruptcy auction at a mining supplies place . So that makes your C201 look stupid expensive . Patience is the key to welding equipment ...watch wait never rush , they come around .
As @Munkul said above, the Lorch 252 is a great machine. I have the Control Pro version and I've been very happy with it. I also have an ESAB Caddy 200i which is a lovely little thing, and VERY portable!
