ERW Box Supplies

I'm looking to purchase around 20Meters of 100x40mm ERW box for a gate project and need it cut to around 2meter lengths and delivered. I've been in touch with metal supermarkets and the price seems too high. Any recommended suppliers here in the South.

We used to use something around that size on a repeat job years ago and we had to have it especially imported from Italy.

F R POWELLS and Sons in Bristol are very good, I am sure they deliver down in Doorzett!

Up it to 100x50 rhs, and you will probably find it is substantially cheaper, as its a much more commonly stocked size....if there is scope for added size and weight.

Thanks for that tip, can't see 10mm would make a great difference apart from the appearance, but maybe I could reduce the wall thickness a bit to compensate for the extra weight, not too sure what sizes are available though.
These gates have to look good from both sides so no diagonal bracing, the timber will be fixed as floating panels to prevent rain water soaking into the end grain. Hopefully they should look a little like this . I'm near Ringwood, don't know of any steel suppliers locally.

You can get 3.2mm as standard. Without consulting one of my stockholder books to be sure you may get it as thin as 2.5mm wall thickness.
