Erbauer 305mm Sliding mitre saw

I have a rage 3 for cutting anything that might be metal contaminated and a dewalt for things that need to be accurate

I really needed a 305mm but couldn't bring myself to part with money required for a branded milwaukee/dewalt

Well as they say you get what you pay for, got it home, big box, big saw, big disappointment.

Seems sturdy enough but on getting it sat on the trestles the bearings used for the sliding arm are shocking or faulty, they are so rough the head bounces up and down as you slide it back and forth and try to jam when you put any weight on the business end, ffs

Back in the box of a fashion and back to screwfix, another one tmrw see what that's like.

My 16 year old DeWalt still going strong. 1 set of brushes and a new fence.
Could do with finding a new clearance piece

Screwfix are pretty decent for returns from my personal experience.

When returning say less than you need to explain yourself is my thoughts

Took it straight back, they didn't give a stuff, told them what was up and that it didn't fit back in the box very well now.

I bought a Clarke sliding compound mitre saw a couple of years ago on a Machine Mart VAT free offer, happy with the results from a saw costing about £100

Last used for making a show trolley...

You must have got a faulty one, I have mine for ages and it's been a good tool for the money, even slicing up oak nice and square.

I'm sure it will be, they're generally not too bad for the money. Just stick a Freud blade in it instead of the one it comes with, and you're good to go

Well no2 brought home Un boxed and returned within the hour, I'm done with erbauer.

Slides are fine on this one, the last one should never have left the factory the difference was that great

This one has a much more dangerous fault, gave it a push back and forward up and down all good, plugged in spin motor push down lift up the safety gaurds bolt sheared off and the return spring dropped down catching the gaurd then the blade then shot it out past the gaurd with its new found momentum.

Bolt holding the gaurd snapped clean off, caused by either
A **** quality bolt
B bolt being way over tightened
C combination of both

Could have done the job by hand the time I have spent picking up and returning.

I'm pleased everyone else has found them to be OK but I'm done with cheap ****, got a refund.

This one has a much more dangerous fault, gave it a push back and forward up and down all good, plugged in spin motor push down lift up the safety gaurds bolt sheared off and the return spring dropped down catching the gaurd then the blade then shot it out past the gaurd with its new found momentum.

Not me mate. Costs too much money to pack up and go find a replacement when a cheap tool gives up.

Get on eBay/Gumtree/Facebook and buy a second hand saw.

You're either very unlucky or they have dropped the quality on there own kit! Honestly mine is ok, the scale markings are poor and the laser is a joke but the basic mechanics are alright.

Could be either or both, I wasn't prepared to risk a 3Rd one, to be honest I think it's down to quality and final inspection.

Bearings on first were shocking, no one with an ounce of common sense would have passed it fit to leave factory, the head was bobing up and down as it slid through bearings.

2nd one could be down to screw holding gaurd but as that's a pretty critical safety item there is no excuse for not using 1 good quality machine screw and ensuring it's torqued correctly.

This a shame because I won't use it much but I need something that size, will keep an eye out for used but will probably end up with a dewalt.

That's pretty bad and lucky no serious injury!

I have not had any experience of Erbauer tools, although I've heard that generally they're not bad for the market they're aimed at. Usually the saws in that price range are usually all much of a muchness, however with a bit of fettling thay can be quite accurate with the various cuts they can make. Personally, I think that the Bosch range of SMS's are the best, so I use one of those, but obviously you pay a higher price

Do you really need 305mm? For around the same money you could get one of these https://www.screwfix.com/p/evolutio...0v/128hf#product_additional_details_container I have used a couple of Evolution power tools and for the money found them pretty good. I suppose it's a case you get what you pay for!
