Epoxy resin and dremel power tools.

Hi everyone,

OK, I have never worked with metal before though the time has come where I need to do so.

If I cannot find the correct threaded connector, I was wondering if epoxy resin would be suitable for 'gluing' steel tubeing together?

Secondly I need to cut some horizontal slots into the same 3MM steel tube and was wondering if a dremel power tool would be up to the job?

Use steel epoxy like JB Weld. Works well if mixed thoroughly and you can roughen the surface. It is brittle though.

A dremel will work but will be slow. Expect to go through several cutting disks. I like the fiber disks as they last longer and don't shatter like the ceramic oxide disks.

What size tube is it? A glued joint wont be any where near as strong as a threaded joint or welded joint.

Whats the applictaion, we might have some other ideas...

I asume you mean 3mm wall thickness tube? id be inclined to use a normal grinder, dremels are very slow going for that sort of thing.

Don't want to be rude but i didn't even know a Dremel was called a "power tool" (if you push to hard on it it even slows down....yes, i own one i know..) As for the sloths i agree with Hitch, use a small grinder they're easy to manipulate..(even for me)

about the dremel i used to dismiss them as diy crap as they cut bent nails with them on telly and wire brushed metal gates as iff but honestly i have air grinders and die grinders with carbide cutters verry nice but if u are using a dremmel or any grinder slowing the surface speed down by pushing on it reduces the surface speed of disk wears quicker and gets nowhere dont knock em there brill
