Can you paint over epoxy primer within its cure time? I have some epoxy primer (Novol ultra), and just realised I have never used epoxy primer before. The tech sheet says nothing about overcoating but gives a 12h cure time. I have come across two differing opinions on other epoxy primers one being topcoat after flash off, the other being do not topcoat till cured.

If it is Novol Ultra primer 500, data sheet suggest two coats, wet on wet, allowing 10 minutes flash off.

Procedure:
Apply in two wet layers, leave each to flash off for 5÷10 minutes
at 20°C. The flash-off time depends on the temperature and the
layer thickness.

Yes, if it hasn't cured then you should be OK but I am not familiar with that paint.
Yes it was this primer. I saw this on the tech sheet for overcoating itself for a 2nd coat but was asking about when to topcoat such epoxy primers which would then be the 3rd layer and a different coating
AJL has confirmed you can, so I'm wondering if there is a better time to topcoat epoxy primer? Closer to just after flash off or closer to full cure?

You can wet on wet just after flashing. Leaving it to cure requires flatting to spec.

Personally I'm always wary about lots of heavy wet coats close together.....I try to let the epoxy cure a little...but obviously not fully cure which would need sanding. Look at the spec sheet from supplier ...Lechler quote a 1 to 24 hr window for recoat for example, and a lot depends on ambient temperature too
