Thinking to shelve one wall of the garage. Basically 5800 between the end columns with two buttresses sticking out.

Can only stick out 400mm so 300mm at the buttresses.

I've lots of 25mm box section...

Maybe stitch some cross members to make them 50mm deep?

It would mean actual welding...

Doesn't matter then that one end will be sticking out at a jaunty angle ? Even further by the time you get to the third pillar !

I would do it as you originally drawn it, and either cut the shelves to fill in the "bays" or put an upstand on the back, depending what you are storing.

Locating small parts is the hardest, for me the steel pull out draws have been the best solution yet. Got three sets of them, one set is nutsnbolts, one is drills, mill/lathe tools,taps/dies and anything to do with cutting and the third set is full of things like the hoselok fittings,lynch pins,grinder spares etc.

Where to buy those steel drawer units?
When we moved to Spain I left mine behind thinking they were the least important things. We couldn’t take everything.

Now I find I have stuff like bolts, nuts, washers, screws, rawlplugs, drill bits etc strewn everywhere.

Amazon is no help. What a price!

The Lidl ones are excellent in my opinion. I've half a dozen. About a tenner each. Plastic but they're sturdy. Not sure if they have them in at the mo.

Lidl just up the road from your brother isn't there?
