Engineering plastic bar, where to buy?

Is engineering plastic, eg acetal or delrin, available in flat bar sizes? I need some stock in 40×10×300mm but it seems to only come in very thin sizes, eg 40×3mm or in sheets eg 300×300×10 mm.

I can't say I have ever noticed engineering plastics in anything other than rod or sheets.

Given that, I'd guess buying a sheet and cutting it will work out cheaper than trying to source an uncommon size of bar.

Have a look for local plastics suppliers.
I go to davis plastics in crawley most of the time, they do have a website and flog on ebay.
The bloke on the counter goes and finds anything I ask for. If I buy flats it looks
like they have been cut from sheet.

Just checked. High density polyethylene apparently. Or HDPE. A cheap source of plastic if HDPE is suitable!

Good idea. Google says HDPE mills fine.

I've used Direct Plastics for PE1000 and Nylon, they do sheet and bar

You could probably turn sheet into strip on a table saw

I've been waiting for my local deli up the back of the supermarket to throw out their big plastic cutting boards, but I reckon they forget to keep them for me or can't be bothered. I'd quite happily bung them a few quid tea money.

I was surprised tro find an old chopping board, apparently HDPE, snaffled from the kitchen cupboard to create a battery spacer, was pretty crap strength wise - broke very easily.

Never found that with "engineering" plastics
