Engine gaskets - grease, sealant or dry?

    I was interested in his loose leaf book (the 2010 one?) but lost a bit of interest with his forum getting so . . . complicated might be the best way to describe it ;)

    Might be the way of engine tuners - one of the well known K-series guru is a bit the same. As soon as you question something everyone else takes as gospel from the oracle . . . oh dear. But again, he's published a lot of very helpful info on the net that's helped a lot of people, me included.

    lycoming used one strand of silk thread and iirc a smear of wellseal on the crankcase joint

    Yes, Guy responds well to 'how' type questions, but not so well to 'why' type questions - anything that might be construed as questioning his authority.
