Problem with damp wood is yes it does produce heat, but just enough to dry the remaining wood which goes up the chimney as steam and unfortunately creosote. The net effect into the room is ~zero. Plus the thermal capacity of water is many times greater than that of air. Trust me I was that soldier.

Just got a fesh batch of wood and the heat output is phenomenal. Previous lot gave little if any heat out. Vast difference with moisture content, All seasoned firewood, but stored where?

Just to add to this - I have never been outside of the local bypass of the town I live in - on the little Honda - I just use it for commuting to the workshop in the summer. So it is all going thru the gears in traffic and thru housing estate. The throttle really has two positions ON/OFF.

I reckon 150+mpg is possible if you took it for a long steady ride with no hills or gear changes.

How fast is your C125 super cub? My little 110i Honda wave will do 60mph killing it - but will sit happy at 55mph and sounds less like it is dying.

Will hold 60 no problem, 70 flat out, passes HGV on motorway so genuine 60+. Top box and small screen make it really useful but for over 25 miles would use the Burgman.

Sadly not. Goes up to those figures from April 1st. I usually pay a monthly direct debit for leccy of £100 a month to stay ahead. That's slowly been eroded and I was £80 odd in debt. Just upped the direct debit to £150 a month.

Just follow the ownership of all these utilities. As I said earlier I think "UK" Power Networks owned by the Chinese. Same with the railways Southeastern I think part owned by the French national carrier who I believe use our extrortionate ticket prices to subsidise their populations travel.

None of this should have been sold off imho. Take it all back and stand on our own two feet.

I didn't realise that (my) EDF is the French national power company.....A National Power Company...Whatever next?

Not just the American way, not uncommon on lease hold housing estates. I used to live in what was origionally marketed as an executive estate when build as all the houses were detatched. These were originally lease hold and some-of the clauses included.

No company type work vans allowed over night.
No conservatories unless approved by them
No additional trees/ hedges to be planted in front gardens

We're not allowed to put up a fence or hedge above a certain height (About two feet iirc) in our front garden, makes the space pretty useless. You might get away with it but we're not about to buy a load of bushes just for a neighbour to report it and we have to dig them back up again.

Flogas have just written to tell me they are putting up a bulk lpg price to 52ppl, which is a lot more reasonable than I expected.

Still, my tank is full as of last week, at 40ppl, so I'm good until this time next year. At which point 2 years contract with them will have expired, and I can shop around if necessary.

Hopefully the energy craziness will have been sorted by then......

Yes, there were several large motorhomes in front drives for all the years we lived there.

That's not bad at all. Calor put ours up to 58.9ppl in October. Nothing since but using 3500 litres a year does hurt a bit. We aren't in contract so may be calling flogas now.

I've used mine sparingly since the tank was installed and filled 11 months ago, and it took 690l to refill it, so very reasonable cost.

One for anyone with access to plenty of manure. The ex Gurkha lads I work with said these were common place in Nepal when they were kids. They had buffalo and Mum would stoke the thing with a couple of shovel fulls of dung. The resultant gas was used for cooking the evening meal and powering the lights they did their homework by:

We discussed energy prices and he remarked his power bill was 20,000 kroner a month! Thats close to £2000!

Amazing how it goes up immediately but it’s weeks after a price drop that it will supposedly go down…Funny that…

Again, while it affects me badly too, why is it a surprise a business takes advantage of any and all opportunities to maximise profit?

With local smaller sellers - might take a week or several to empty the storage tanks. Even when I worked for THF, you might only get one delivery a week on a motorway service area in quieter periods of the year.
