Irrespective of the cost of this mission, it is amazingly well preserved.

If they get one of the submersibles to cut off the ship's bell and auction it, that would be theft. Must be an eccentric millionaire.

Just checking it's not an insurance scam aren't they. What if he'd just hidden it somewhere, said it sunk and made a claim.
You know what these insurance types are like, do anything to get out of paying out, even 100 years later on.

I am amazed and glad that expeditions like this take place, i think it's truly fascinating that we can see something that disappeared over 100 years ago preserved as a time capsule. All the more amazing because there was actual footage of the ship as it was broken up and sunk by the icy waters that have preserved it. Just been searching on demand TV to see if I can find the Shackleton documentary to watch again. (Seems like amazon is my best bet)

Well now I've got plenty of time on my hands, tested positive for covid this morning so am currently banished to the caravan to live for the next week. Just watched the 1st episode (again) excellent programme, really recommend it to anyone who has an interest in the Endurance discovery.
