Somehow I have made a cock up.
I purchased 1.5 metres of EN16 at 32mm diameter.
"Wrong" I needed 35mm.
Good part is I am fitting it into a steel roller. So I have bored the 2 rollers at 32mm. Which is great as I can just take 3mm more out and fit in a new drive for welding on the end.
That is a photo of what I am creating.
That part has been parted off so I can turn the weld of the drum of steel it fits into.
I them bore the steel drum out to 35mm.
The slug of steel I turn down has a flange in the middle of it so the bearing fits up against it.
I chose to buy sized steel and bore to size and create a flange separately but in hindsight this is counter productive as 1. Its more work.
And 2. It's harder to weld cleanly leaving a flat for the bearing to sit on.
Apart from that my supplier has no EN16 in stock in 45mm.
So as they do stainless bar and I need it urgently I was wondering if an alternative is possible.
But not sure what number to go for.
The slot (damaged in the photos) is the part that drives the roller it's welded to.
But even the 100mm stub get bent quite quickly. So what ever I use needs to be machineable, tough/hard but not brittle and weldable.
Any suggestions please.
Or any questions to clarify what I need?
