Emptying lpg tank

Hi. I bought a donut lpg tank that i want to use as a tank for holding veg oil in my Delica. Problem is that it was supposed to be empty but its not - just the opposite.

Any ideas on how to empty?

I had the same problem. Got an ex Landrover doughnut tank which the owner said contained a "little" gas. Took me 4 hours to flare it off otherwise a cloud of gas would have enveloped Oxfordshire. There is a solenoid valve and an outlet. Connect the outlet to some pipework you can safely flare from. Solenoid to 12v DC via a switch near the power supply. Light a blowlamp, operate the switch, ignite the LPG, stand back. If it gets too intense (heat and/or noise) cut the power to the solenoid. When all the gas has burnt off leave the solenoid open with the outlet pipe pointing downwards. LPG is denser than air. Remove after a couple of days and purge out.

Hi, a number of years ago the airside buses it was decided should be powered by LPG and they had the diesel engines converted to spark ignition and two large tanks in pods on the roof. Sometimes they needed to have them emptied to work on the gas systems. So they would have a guy in to do that, which consisted of a great big burner whilst the guy sat in the van reading the paper all day.

Make an adapter hose and decant into an empty propane bottle ?

I bought a cylinder with some lpg in (it was full!).
Didnt find out until i i started to take the valve out.

I sealed it back up (eight allen bolts in a circle, so just tightened them back up).

I then took it onto the wasteland at the back of my house, about 800yds from the nearest anything, and unsealed it.
Wandered off and went back an hour later.

Remember LPG is heavier than air so will tend to sink and could accumulate down any nearby drains.
