Elliot Progress Paint..?

Hi all,

Just become the owner of a nice Elliot drill, but it needs a repaint, not planning to strip it to bare metal so I'm after a basecoat and topcoat in a suitable colour (its a bluey grey at the moment, not sure what's original?). Preferably a brush on jobbie as I haven't the compressor to run a spray gun, at least not for more than a few square feet!

I just used ordinary household paint.

any metal primer or undercoat and just an enamel paint

If the Blue/Gray is the colour of a Harrison Lathe, just search Fleabay for Harrison L5/L5A/140 paint.

So the likes of Tractol or JapLac would be ok? i might just paint it Massey Stoneleigh Grey as i have that already!

Don't laugh, but I have been repainting bits on my old car like door plates, seat runners etc. with paint from Poundland. Actually quite impressed with it, though I don't know how long it would last on a heavily used item.
