Elliot 2gs help/parts required

I’m trying to fix my 2gs, some monkey before me managed to snap the high/low lever. I took the side cover off to see how easy it would be to replace, and found this broken bakerlight(?) bush inside.
I can’t see anywhere obvious that the bush would have come from, any one know? Is it available? And anyone have a spare lever or know where to get one?

I think the brown material is paxolin and not bakelite.

It is a grooved guide to lift the gear on the quill to change the gear ratio.

They are Gate Engineering which owns Elliott.

I did find Gate, they only seem to list two Nylon looking cogs/gears, but I will try contacting them. Thanks

They've sold most of their Progress 1/2/3 spares now, via Ebay.
The part you need is actually made from Tufnol.

The nylon items are shear keys for the progress 3 drill, the last ones I bought some ten odd years ago were not a direct fit in my 3E.

I think I may have the lever/handle for a progress drill. I'll see if I can dig it out tomorrow evening.

There is no reason why you couldn’t manufacture that out of something like delrin, or even brass / bronze.
Turn the profile as a full circle and split into 2 or 3 (looks like they are thirds) then drill the hole for the arm.

The gearbox looks dry too, I hope there was plenty of oil in there!!
Quite disappointing to hear the gear selector shaft was broken, doesn’t sound like it’s been looked after very well…

Edit, for reference, the little tufnol guide lifts the largest gear on the bottom right so it engages with a dog clutch above it. That gives you the high range speeds.

If the shaft is broken I'd check the state of the dog clutch on the face of the gear.

It does work ok in low speed, but I do want to fix it. The gearbox had plenty of oil in it.

Good evening, I’m trying to get hold of the manual (link doesn’t work unfortunately) for an Elliott Progress no 1 drill as Ive got one but it’s missing the quill return spring housing. Does anyone know where I can get the dimensions so I can get a replacement made or know where I can get one (exhausted eBay/Gate machinery etc). Thanks in advance

I suggest making your own thread as somebody on here will have access to an Elliott Progress 1 drill more readily and can get you the measurements.
