hi all, having picked up this elliot drill recently i finally found time to have a look at it.....
while i stress i do more 'repairs' than full on restorations that i see going on this forum i thought i'd share what i found.
having dug round and found out (on here) how to strip the machine i notice some of this type of drill has hardened gears mine turned out to be soft already, certainly they tig-welded up okay.
looks like someone had been in there before, and made a new gearshift arm, just slightly in the wrong place meaning the fast speed didnt engage correctly, now altered and the drill works spot on but as read elsewhere its a poor design (open to abuse)
