So I have started playing about (in a controlled safe manner!) with a welder again but with the advantage of many online resources to put me on the right track with regards technique etc. I am currently practising with various electrodes I got from work which came from a very dusty dingy corner of an unused workshop the estates guys so these will be decades old.
Apart from some plain 6013's, I have these 'other' rods from the workshop which are 2.5mm, thick dark grey flux coated and lay a slightly goldish/yellow very smooth finely rippled bead (compared to the silvery grey of the 6013's)- the slag comes off easily. They also have a blue spot of paint on the contact end of the electrode. I have to say they are the prettiest welds I ever seen - even make me look like I know what I am doing! Sadly the electrodes have no other identifying features therefore my question is does anyone recognise what these could be? I have done some research on the internet but didn't find anything conclusive.
Cheers, Vambo
