Just trying my MIG welder for the first time. The manual says at one point that you should 'rest your glove on the work piece' but in the safety guidelines it says 'do not touch the work piece, ground clamp or electrode'. Which is right?
I'm going to be welding sills onto a car and at one point I'm going to have to have to reach through the door and weld into the footwell. There's a high probability that some part of my body may touch the car body while welding. Is this going to give me a shock? If so I can avoid it but won't be able to complete the job as well.
In addition, I'm using a DC Flux core MIG welder and everyone says it will just blow holes in the bodywork. I've done a few test welds and this is true, but if I keep the wire longer than its supposed to be it seems so be ok. Is there any problem with this approach?
