Bought this from the local tat shop it isnt giving the correct voltage output any ideas?

Giving about 7 volts when set on 12?

Have you tried measuring with a separate multimeter? Could be the gauge is wrong.

As above measure voltage and state the difference........between the two...

Is the volts/Amp switch in the correct position, seems to be half way between both?

Slide the Range switch left and right a few times, to clean the contacts, Chances are it selects different transformer windings for the different voltage ranges. If that doesn't help, it could be that the regulator has packed up.

Get a known voltage and the little white slotted screw on gauge is to adjust the needle to suit..

Yes gauge matches my Multi meter

Well just had a good fiddle with my knobs and switches and it lives, must have been 30 years worth or dirt, just need a Red knob thing for the Positive connection £5 well spent

A bit of switch cleaner/lubricant in the right places should see it give a bit more service.

will tell you both your voltage and current without having to slide a little switch to change from one to the other. .

True, but it lacks the 'soul' of the Altai.

Altai stuff is very well made. None of their kit has ever gone wrong on me.
