I believe the little 9v dry cell battereis have been know to kill before now if touched on the tongue - more likely i guess if you have a weak heart.

I think this is BS. It takes at least 30mA across the heart to kill by electrocution and you wouldn't get that by touching a 9V battery on your tongue.

There have been instances of low voltage electrocution, such as on US farms where they have or had, 36V safety mains, but they involved things like cuts and soaked skin. Dry skin has a considerable resistance.

isn't that why site electrics is 110v? Centre tapped to earth so the max potential is 55V to earth.

I've been living dangerously then, those PP3? Batteries like go in smoke alarms, to do a quick check if they are ok, I put them on the tip of my tongue. As PTvor says, it's not across your heart so I cannot see it could do you any damage.

Tongue tingling?
I had a cocky mate a few years back. he tried his tongue, not much effect, then I watched him run two bare wires from the electrodes and bite them together so he could 'judge the voltage'. If you know a cocky idiot I would reccomend getting them to try this. Nerves make great voltage measuring implements.
He screamed the place down, I almost died laughing.
