Hi, I wasn't sure of the best place to post this.
I recently had my whole house and garage rewired and got the electrician to fit a small consumer unit in the garage and told him I also needed a 32amp 3 pin commando type plug on its own breaker for use with my welder.
just tried my welder out for the first time, and when I switch the welder on 8 times out of 10 it will trip the 32amp breaker due to the initial surge, otherwise its fine after this.
I had a look and he has just fitted a standard domestic breaker not a type C or D as it should be.
So I want to fit a type D breaker but i was reading up on them and it says it they may require a lower earth loop impedance and testing to make sure it trips within limit.
Has anyone else had this done? I am more than happy to change the breaker myself, but I dont have a earth tester etc. Is it worth getting a spark to do it?
Thanks
