Not being sarcastic ...Really ?
I thought the required work would cost far more as it would disrupt things along each line being up graded for years . I mean how would the services be affected to get Kings X to say Potters bar done they'd have to close Kings X for several years surely because of the tunnels . Multiply that for all the tracks & stations in the UK .
I thought the idea of HS2 was to try and split the freight off from the daily cattle runs where possible . So a greater passenger capacity is gained when needed due to the greater speeds .
Not being sarcastic, but why do all tracks and stations need upgrading?
If Kings cross is difficult, leave that out, it’s about getting trucks off the motorways,
Build a new line right next to the M6 motorway?
My point is that if diesel is banned in moving vehicles, and battery power of trucks is unworkable, then there are options, options that may not warrant the investment now, but could warrant the investment at a future point in time
