if they have regen breaks how will you know if and when the brakes will actually work ?
He's used a variety, but the one I particularly remember was chinese. He fitted it to the bike he used for going to the post office and other errands every day, as well as up and down the towpath to the boat he lived on, right through winter. It performed faultlessly being hammered daily for a year, fitted to an old touring frame, and towing a trailer too. He built another one with a chain driven motor driving a wheel in a trailer. That was very slick as the battery fits in the trailer and there's no obvious sign of any changes to the bike apart from the twist grip, and it pushed it along very nicely. There was still plenty of room in the trailer for shopping too.

and not charging during regen breaks surely would be an issue, coz the electric brakes wouldn't work?
