Electric Hoist worth the Investment?

How often do you actually intent to move this sort of thing? If once a week or more have a good think about a gantry, you'll loose the diameter of each beam only, and a little bit of headroom .

Maybe once a month, So not that often if I'm honest!

Just want to make life easier rather than struggling about the situation.

Tack some handles onto the plate to help with lifting then wack them off or just a little dolley, something that could be snugged under a bench once used.

Ashley have you considered a swing lift. Fold back against the wall so they eat no space. I built a small one for engine building in the mancave.

I do like the idea of a boom arm! Very handy, But obviously you are limited by the fixed position of the pivot & how long the arm is I suppose.

I'm thinking a board trolley would be handy to move sheet metal around the garage. I could cut the 8ft x 4ft 3mm steel sheet in half, But you just know the time you want a longer piece is the time you wish you hadn't cut the sheet down!

I don't know what size of garage you think I own? But its definitely not the size of a warehouse! More like a single garage. So don't think that would be appropriate for my needs!

A sack barrow or even a board trolley would be good to move sheet around.

Thats just the first one on ebay they go down much smaller to the size of pallet trucks im just suggesting the forks underneath would be a safer idea than trying to lift with straps out the front of an engine crane making it unstable also the wheels tend to be widder and slightly bigger and make them easier to roll than the casters of an engine crane

Yeah single garage with a pitched roof. Ideally I would like a double garage, But typically my garage is joined onto the next door neighbours & it would just create a massive hassle which I don't really want with relocating the garage & building a bigger one!

I've got some 2" tubing which I could use as a reinforcing beam or could get my hands on some scaffold tube if need be.
