Electric gate hinges

I've just started making a gate for a firm that does a fair bit of automation instalation.

They have specified that it must have 3 hinges on each leaf.

Apparently electric gates now have to have some form of saftey incase the top hinge "lets go". It could also be a wire cable or something along those lines.

First time i've heard of this.

Just something to be aware of if you get involved in this sort of thing.

If you are getting involved with gate automation it would be worth looking at all the latest regs, there now needs to be a rubber gaiter fitted between the post and gate to stop Darwin dodgers crushing their mits.

or small kids . . .

I know of one small kid who didn't understand the danger of an automated gate closing - until then he was enjoying a day out with his truck driver dad.
