Elecrical advice please

I need to add a 240V ring main and additional lighting to my rented industrial unit.
Because the landlord expects me to pay huge bucks...(call me tight but its not my building) I had began fitting boxes & conduit with the intention of paying the electrician to just to check my work and make the connection to the consumer unit.

Having mentioned this to a mate, he said that industrial wiring was not covered as strictly as domestic and just to get on with it myself; Unsure if this is true though any responses from those in the know would be greatly appreciated

Industrial isn't covered by part P but it still needs testing and certification to comply with Electricity at work regs 1989.

Thanks madkayaker, So in theory one with who is competent but not qualified "could" do the job then have the annual testing done as usual by the landlords site electrician?

In theory yes. It would be proving competent that could be a pain. page 22 of BS7671:2008
"Competent person. A person who possesses sufficient technical knowledge, relevant practical skills and experience for the nature of the electrical work undertaken and is able at all times to prevent danger and where appropriate, injury to him/ herself and others"

I'm a qualified aircraft electrician, basically I make repairs and trouble shoot as well as certify the work.

This is part of the control system of the main power control system I regularly work on(there another rack similiar to this plus a whole heap of control systems). So basically its a 4 generator, three phase system supplying two main AC busses. No two sources must be on the same bus at the same time, but the two buses can be tied together so any availble power source can supply everything. There is load control to dump power if the demand out strips whats available, intersting stuff?

Any I qualified to wire a ring main? They say not.

I think i would trust AREO with his aviation background in electronics than some bloke that's got his part P probably courtesy of his boss any-rode!!

Like wise I would but he would be classed as skilled e.g. knolage or experiance.
