I have an old Eland mig 160, occasionally the wire feed will stick on after finishing a run, I usually cure it by folding a bit of fine abrasive in half and sliding it between the relay contacts to clean them, then its ok for several months.
Today it happened again, so did the usual but then it wouldn't feed at all, tried closing the relay manually with a screwdriver which should trigger the feed motor but it didn't and a very fine wisp of smoke appeared between the relay and the green resistor, now its dead,
The machine powers up, fan runs etc but no worky, I cant see any fuses in the machine at all, I'm alright with electrics but all those coloured electronicky bits don't mean much to me,
any ideas anyone, the wirefeed relay is the one on the right with the cover removed
