Just had the EICR done, 230v and then 400v 3 phase in the garage/workshop.
Only 2 C3's for the bungalow (one C1 dealt with immediately during testing, so not reported).
C3's were :-
1. Plastic C/U - fitted in 2013, but internals upgraded to RCBO's
2. Socket behind focal fire inaccessible - discussed and will be replaced with a switched FCU (poor design where marble surround is glued to wall meaning fire cannot be removed easily.
C1 :-
L & N cross connected in a switched fcu controlling under worktop sockets, in the kitchen which was supposed to be covered by a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate (3 years ago), work done by Part P kitchen fitters and tested by a lazy electrician, who stated "I know how these guys work, so will not need to inspect it just test the circuit at the C/U" WRONG. Why this had not caused problems I don't know.
Garage/Workshop, 7 C3's
1. Wrong identification of cables - Brown cables for L's and Blue for N. to identify the L's Brown, Yellow & Blue insulating tape had been used WTF.
2. Missing grommets - or grommet strip, entry at back of DB for tails & side of DB into trunking for cables to isolators and sockets.
3. openings unsealed - 50mm hole drilled in side of DB to 50mm trunking, leaving a gap, not sure if I can get 50mm fire retardant blanking grommets, largest I've seen are 32mm.
4. No RCD protection - mcb only, see below
5. Metal trunking not bonded, cpc through conduit and socket/isolator, will fit bonding wire.
6. 16mm tails - should be 25mm
7. 10mm Main Earth - should be 16mm.
I did not think this was too bad considering that I had inadvertently used an unregistered electrician to install the 3 phase, only found out at the end, when it was too late.
Do I need to change my mcb's for RCCB's to rectify No. 4 ? or can I continue as is ?
This has all been discussed with the electrician, but just wanted other peoples input/suggestions.
