I am going to buy an cheap inverter to power my lathe. 1.5kw. Back in the day when I was involved in control systems the company would just buy SIEMENS inverters. I can't afford SIEMENS! Is there much between the various ebay specials? I was going to over spec slightly as I know the ratings on lots of these machines can be somewhat ambitious.

I have a few now on various machines , most from ebay one from Ali express had no issues so far , they probably all made to the same specs but like you I always over spec on the power just in case
Mine have all been ok.

Cheaper one cracked the plastic case around the mounting points after a while, although the vfd part still works, just mended the case.
