the amount of people i hear saying i can t be bothered to return it is a lot when it comes to internet shoping
Greedy landlords force shops to close, they think because people can walk in off the street it can command a stupidly high rent yet get a back street lock up And trade from there over the internet at a low rent and lower business ratesI don't know about everyone else, But I've stopped bothering to use High Street shops if I'm not in any major rush.
I generally find what I need at a click of a button
Sadly local shops just can't compete & I do try to use local, But its got to the stage I'm giving up trying!
Anyone else feel the same?
Thats why all the high streets are full of charity shops....Lower rates and all their stock is free...then they only give a percentage to charity (about 20% generally).Greedy landlords force shops to close, they think because people can walk in off the street it can command a stupidly high rent yet get a back street lock up And trade from there over the internet at a low rent and lower business rates
Hi al yeah charities get a mandatory 80% rate relief and discretionary 20% depending on the local authorityThats why all the high streets are full of charity shops....Lower rates and all their stock is free...then they only give a percentage to charity (about 20% generally).
I usually buy carbide from either RDG or Cromwell tools delivery is usually 48 hours some times next dayNope. Handy though and open till 12 on Saturdays.
Cromwell is 15 minutes in the other direction for me too.
Not popped by there yet.
It's one of the few shops that I venture into now.On a better note, Went into Wilko this morning & got exactly what I need at the right price. They are one of the few shops on the High Street which are doing a good job.
I still find them useful, Compared to other High Street shops! It's one of the few shops that I venture into now.
I have always been multi skilled....its never got me anywhere.Fast changing world. I think you need to be multi-skilled these days, so when things change you can change.
Jack of all trades? I think we all can fall victim of knowing/doing a lot. But not being really good at something & earning well from your experience/abilityI have always been multi skilled....its never got me anywhere.
My downfall is knowing what to charge.![]()
Its the rent and rates that kill the shops..It is sad to see local places going to wall due to lost sales to the internet but on the other hand my local place charges the same for 1 bandsaw blade as tuffsaws.co.uk charges me for 3 (including postage) and the blades off tuffsaw are better quality. I buy local if I can but I can't justify spending 3x the money for a lower quality product just to support my local shop.
Thats a surprise to be fair...I shall retract the statement re insert costs.
Just double checked and cheaper in store by a little.
Must have viewed a different item when checking earlier.

They will when no one can afford a mortgagetrouble is with rates its the local council that get the cash . there building thousands of expensive houses round our aria and causing traffic problems but the council are rubbing there hands at extra revenue they don't care how many shops go out of business because of it
and they rent of private landlords and still have to pay there own ratesThey will when no one can afford a mortgage
Its often the cost....buy from china get post free. Try sending it back and it costs a fortunethe amount of people i hear saying i can t be bothered to return it is a lot when it comes to internet shoping
