Quiet a few companies are doing tables like that now. Stakesys import the Stronghand tools version

Back in the 70s, we bought a DH Dragon Rapide for spares. Stripped it down to load on a truck. Stopping for our sarnies, we sat on a table in Alan Mann Helicopters. Looked a bit harder at the table and it was a surface plate of around 3X6 mtres. Not exactly portable.

Great idea! I made my own a few months ago, I use bits of box or whatever's to hand for supporting the job if it falls through the holes. I can usually clamp anything anywhere on it or around it, it's a good bit of kit.
